IS THERE TRYOUT OR SKILL REQUIREMENT TO JOIN?
We do not hold tryouts. There will be a two-week trial period at the beginning of each semester. This is a great opportunity to visit the gym, try the equipment, and meet new and current members. After this trial period, you will need to pay dues before attending further practices.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO JOIN?
We are open to undergraduates, graduates, alumni, and community members with any level of experience.
ARE PRACTICES STRUCTURED?
Practices can be as open or as structured as desired and nothing during practice is mandatory. We typically have the entire gym to ourselves after warm-ups so we normally warm up as a team and then split off as you choose to do so. At practice, you can do as many events as you wish. There are no time limits on the events, so you can practice as much as you would like.
DO WE HAVE A COACH?
This year, we are happy to announce that we do have a coach, Steph Fisher. She has been practicing and competing gymnastics her whole life and has been a part of the team since 2016. She is entering her 9th season of coaching USAG. When at practice, she is one resource to ask for spotting, drills, technique advice, and more. Additionally, a number of the club officers and other members have worked as gymnastics coaches and are willing to help as needed.
are there uniforms and apparel?
As part of the team, you have the opportunity to buy OSU Club Gymnastics shirts, sweatshirts, sweatpants, etc. If you decide that you would like to compete, you will have to pay for a uniform. Pricing for apparel will be determined early on at the beginning of the semester. This year we are also requiring our team warm up jacket if you are planning to attend Nationals. We do not require a color but we recommend the grey. Although this is not required for other meets we highly recommend them if you plan to compete in a few meets this season. You will have the opportunity to talk with our Team Captains, Maria Dildine and Brody Penn for more information.
are there team events outside of practice/meets?
We aim to create more opportunities to get to know the club members outside of practice. These include dinner nights, game nights, apple picking, pumpkin carving, paintball, ice-skating, bowling, hanging out with other sports clubs, etc. If you have ideas about social events that you would like to see, don’t hesitate to discuss them with an officer, particularly the social chairs, Quentin Walker and William Payne!
where do i signup for practice?
If you are attending practice please sign-up via the practice sign up sheet. This is also the sign-up if you would like to participate in car pool.
How do i pay for practice
Dues can be paid via Cash, Check, or Venmo. Please make checks payable to OSU Club Gymnastics or Venmo @OSUGymnasticsClub with description of your full name and "dues."
